Alan S. Greene was the first of four children born to Mr. John S. Greene and Mrs. Mary A. Whaley-Greene on September 11, 1947 in New Kensington Pa. In his formative years, Alan was an active sport participant and enthusiast. He graduated in 1964 from the New Kensington High School as well as having matriculated with an Associate’s Degree in Business from the Community College of Allegheny County. Alan proudly served his country in the US Army and was a Veteran of the Viet Nam War. Alan took advantage of his time in the military and was able to travel extensively throughout Europe in countries such as Italy, Spain and Germany. If you knew Alan, he was a private man “who said what he meant and meant what he said”. He loved all types of sports and was open to providing you with good sound sports insight and analogies, but required you to “be quiet” as he watched his favorite teams play. Alan was a die-hard Steelers Fan and wore his Black and Gold proudly. He was unselfish with his time and experiences, and it did not matter if it were friends, family or someone who just needed assistance. He coached Little League Baseball, golfed with friends when he could, shared his enthusiasm and love of cars and always offered to help family, friends or neighbors complete a home improvement project. Alan was a strong willed and focused man who attended to the business of work in the same manner. He had a healthy appreciation for getting it done and “getting it done right”. Throughout his work life Alan worked for the Atlantic and Pacific Tea Company, PPG Industries and the Dominion Peoples Gas Company, from which he retired. Alan leaves to mourn his brothers Kim A. (Portia) Greene, Korry A. Greene, Richard (Connie) Lovelace, Sister Karla S. (Rickie) Greene-Grant, Nephew Kendrick J. Greene, Nieces- Kaitlyn A. Grant and Rhiannon S. Greene, Aunt Cora L. Houston, Great Nieces and Nephew, Step-grandchildren and host of Greene, Whaley, Hales, Houston, Palmer, Garner and Lovelace cousins. Alan was preceded in death by his parents John S. and Mary A. Greene and a number of beloved Aunts, Uncles and Cousins. Alan will truly be missed but will always be remembered fondly and lovingly!
To a job well done and road truly traveled, rest peacefully.
