William J. Faix Sr., 85, of Logans Ferry Heights, Plum Borough passed away peacefully Friday, November 30, 2018. He was born September 22, 1933, in New Kensington to the late Thomas Sr. and Catherine Novak Faix.
William served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He was an avid stamp collector and enjoyed bowling, horseshoes, listening to polkas, and spending time with his family. He was a life member at Seventh St. Sportsmen’s Club, the Logans Ferry Volunteer Fire Company, VFW Post 92, and St. Mary of Czestochowa Roman Catholic Church.
Survivors include his son, Bill (Diane) Faix Jr.; daughter, Michelle (Kurt) Schreiber; grandchildren, Marissa E. Faix, Michele R. (Scott) Flurer, Christopher Schreiber, and Aaron Schreiber; two great-grandchildren, Henry and Robert; sister, Judith Olczak; and sister-in-law, Ellen Faix.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Kathleen Sylak Faix in 2011; brother, Thomas Faix Jr.; and brother-in-law, Edward Olczak.
Visitation will be Wednesday, Dec. 5 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm in ROSS G. WALKER FUNERAL HOME LTD., 217 Freeport Road, New Kensington, where prayers of transfer will be held Thursday Dec. 6 at 9:30am, followed by a funeral Mass at 10 am in St. Mary Roman Catholic Church. Father John Szczesny will celebrate the mass. Burial will be in St. Mary Catholic Cemetery, Lower Burrell.
