William D. Baker, 75, of New Kensington, passed away tragically in a motorcycle accident in Indiana, PA on Saturday, June 4, 2022. Born February 22, 1947 to the late Elmer and Isabelle (Citterberg) Baker.
Bill was a graduate of Arnold High School, Class of 1964, where he was a standout football player for Ar-Ken. He continued his education and love of sports at the University of Nebraska where he played football for the Cornhuskers. A true craftsman, he could fix anything and was a talented welder. He worked for 35 years at Allegheny Ludlum, spending his final 7 years as a crane man before retiring. He was a member of the Hunter’s and Fisherman’s Club, The Moose, Seventh Street Sportsman’s Club, Tarentum Elks and Falls Creek Eagles. He loved the outdoors and created life-long memories at camp in Reynoldsville that will live on forever. Bill enjoyed hunting and fishing, being the “Pinochle Master,” riding his motorcycles, golfing, Thursday night poker games and cooking while grooving to jazz music with his glass of wine on the counter. Bill will forever be imprinted deep in our hearts with his vibrant personality, he never met a stranger that he couldn’t start a conversation with and all his friends quickly became “family.” His deep commitment to his family and unfaltering devotion to his grandchildren is what brought him the greatest joy as they were the light of his life.
Bill will always be remembered for his most giving heart and be so deeply missed by his fiancé of 12 years, Patricia L. Havrilak (his Calamity Jane); beloved children, Heavenly A. (Bret) Westphalen of Midlothian, VA; sons, Bradley W. (Erin) Baker of Pittsburgh and William D. (DeAnne) Baker Jr. of Needmore, PA; cherished grandchildren, Parker, Alanna, Erin, Emma, Zane, and Madison; and sister, Ileen (Johnnie) Doyle of Fort Smith, Arkansas. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Gene Langham.
