Vivian L. Akins

Vivian Lee Akins, 81, of New Kensington, died the evening of July 5, 2022 at Allegheny General Hospital. She was born July 21, 1940, in New Kensington, to the late Chester and Betty Jane (Wachtler) Grabowski.

Vivian was married to the late William Henry Akins Jr. for more than 45 years, and together they raised their children in The Valley on a foundation of love. She absolutely loved being a mother and homemaker, always putting her family first.  She enjoyed baking and was a talented seamstress, taking extra special time to crochet beautiful scarves and baby blankets.

Her daily presence will be deeply missed by her surviving son, Ethan Akins; daughter, Angela Akins; her brothers, Chester “Johnny” (Phyllis) Grabowski, David (Barbara) Grabowski; and her sister Loretta J. Callen-Fleck.
