It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Vincent Anthony Verteramo, 91, on Wednesday, July 15, 2026 at Concordia at Rebecca Residence, following a courageous two-month battle after a fall. 

Vince was born on January 11, 1935, in Arnold, Pennsylvania, to the late Dominic and Rachel (Ansilio) Verteramo. He graduated from Arnold High School in 1952 and continued his education at New Kensington Commercial School and the Penn State University Extension. 

Vince proudly served as a Private First Class in the United States Army during the early years of the Vietnam War. It was during his military service that he discovered his passion for food service, a calling that would shape the rest of his life. Deeply rooted in his Italian heritage, Vince carried forward a strong work ethic, a deep love of family, and a belief that the table was a way to bring people together. 

After working alongside his father as a butcher, Vince's entrepreneurial spirit led him to own and operate several businesses, including Vermari, a pizza shop he established with family roots, as well as an international grocery store, a deli/diner with a catering business, and a small event venue. He later managed the Cheswick Restaurant for ten years before serving as General Manager of River Forest Country Club in Freeport, Pennsylvania, for 21 years. Under his leadership, the club's pro shop, restaurant, and event business grew more than fivefold. After relocating to Florida for several years, Vince served as a Prestige Meat Manager for a large grocery chain, helping open multiple specialty departments and training employees throughout the region. 

In his later years, after returning to the Pittsburgh area, Vince's life was centered on his faith in Jesus Christ as a devoted member of The River Community Church in Lower Burrell. His love for God was reflected in his love for serving others, and he found countless opportunities to share both his faith and his passion for food with family, friends, neighbors, and his church community, welcoming everyone with kindness and acceptance. Together, he and his wife, Joy, became a beloved part of that community through their joyful service to others.
Whether sharing a favorite recipe, preparing a special meal, or telling one of his many stories, Vince had a gift for making people feel welcome. He continued bringing smiles to those around him until the very end, entertaining nurses and caregivers in every healthcare facility where he stayed with his warmth, humor, and love of conversation. More than anything, Vince had a gift for making people feel welcomed, cared for, and valued. 

Vince is survived by his loving wife of 17 years, Carol Joy (Flinn) Verteramo (Joy); his daughters, Regina Valentini (Sean Humphrey) and Rosanne Hutton (Scott); his sister, Teresa (Verteramo) Varrato; his stepdaughter, Fawn (Maxwell) Lavsa (Charles); seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and his stepson, Bret Maxwell. 

A private graveside service will be held for the immediate family. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may make a memorial donation to The River Community Church in Lower Burrell, PA, in Vince's memory. Arrangements have been entrusted to Ross G. Walker of New Kensington. 

Our family sincerely thanks everyone whose kindness, friendship, prayers, and support touched Vince's life. Your love enriched his journey, and we are deeply grateful for the many lives he touched in return.  Vince will be remembered for his generous heart, unwavering faith, welcoming spirit, and the joy he found in bringing people together around a table.
