Thomas Kus Obituary

Thomas Walter Kus, 91, of New Kensington died at Allegheny Valley Hospital on Friday, Oct. 21, 2022. He was born in New Kensington on April 4, 1931 to the late Thomas Stanley and Pauline Louise (Czyz) Kus.

Tom served as a Corporal in the United States Army as a logistics officer in Seoul during the Korean War. Following his service, he became the most loving and devoted husband and father. Tom grew up in the New Kensington area where he spent his life enjoying and appreciating the great outdoors at every opportunity that he could. He was a life member at the New Kensington Hunter’s and Fisherman’s Club and loved spending time in the mountains where he enjoyed hunting and fishing. He and his wife cherished their daily walks through the many beautiful parks nearby, especially Memorial Park. He was an avid Steelers, Penn State, and Pitt fan as well as a devoted parishioner at St. Mary of Czestochowa Church, a part time auxiliary police officer in Lower Burrell, and was a proud member of the Polish Falcon's Club where his grandfather was once president. A steadfast hard worker, he held positions at Allegheny Ludlum, Arnold Glass House, and Glenshaw Glass for 31 years in the mold and box shop.

Tom will be deeply missed and forever remembered by his beloved wife of 27 years, Mary Lou (Mansmann) Kus; loving daughter, Gwynne (Gary) Schweiker; and numerous cousins and family members whom he loved.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Thomas Walter Kus.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Tom’s honor to the Paralyzed Veterans of America.
