Thelma Nell (Beck) Onifer

Thelma N. Beck Onifer, 95, formerly of New Kensington, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 18, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. 

She was born August 23, 1929, in New Kensington to the late Arthur & Margaret Frum Beck, and was a 1947 graduate of Ken-Hi.  

Survivors include her daughter, Judith (Fred) Bernard; daughter-in-law, Carol Onifer; grandchildren, Laurie (Mike) Misera, Fred (Kay) Bernard, Traci (Bernard) Arnold, Dr. Andrew (Jay) Onifer, and Nicole (Onifer) Mannas; great-grandchildren, Chloe & Colby Arnold, Lillie Misera and Kimber Bernard and Eric and Sam Mannas; her sister Nancy (Robert) Shanta.  

Mrs. Onifer was a member of St. Mary of Czestochowa Roman Catholic Church of New Kensington. She very much enjoyed traveling with her late husband of 70 years and visited Niagara Falls, the Grand Ole’ Opry in Tennessee, Rome, Italy (their favorites), and many other places.  She loved sewing, ceramics, crocheting, gambling, bingo and watching hummingbirds, but most of all loved spending time with her children and grandchildren.  

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Andrew J. Onifer Sr., in 2019; son, Andrew J. Onifer Jr., in 2004; her aunt, Eileen Pelczarski; and her pet dog, Missy.  

Viewing will be Tuesday, April 22, 2025, from 11:30AM until a blessing service at 12:30PM in ROSS G. WALKER FUNERAL HOME LTD., 217 Freeport Road, New Kensington. Entombment will follow in Greenwood Memorial Park Mausoleum, Lower Burrell.  In lieu of flowers, those desiring may contribute in Thelma’s memory to The Seasons of Saxonburg, 223 Pittsburgh Street, Saxonburg, PA 16056 or the Monarch Hospice, 2837 Leechburg Road, Lower Burrell, PA 15068, from which Mrs. Onifer received exemplary care.
