Thelma Susan Herrod, 97 of Greensburg, passed away on Wednesday September 10, 2025 peacefully at Concordia Personal Care Home in Sarver.
She was born in Jeanette on March 8, 1928 to the late Benjamin Struble and Nancy Lang.
She was an exceptional housewife, mother and grandmother. She loved to hand make quits and clothing which included western square dancing costumes.
She assisted her husband developing several western square dancing clubs in the Greensburg and Pittsburgh area.
But her passion was her Shetland Sheep dogs. She traveled extensively in the tri state area including a few trips to Canada . She was held in high regard by helping to start the Westmoreland County Obedience Club now in the Delmont area. With the Thel’s Crystal kennel, she reached numerous titles for Best In Show in Obedience, Agility and Confirmation. Culminating with a second place win at the Westminster National Dog Show.
She is survived by her daughters Maxine and her husband Guy Gregg of New Kensington and Roxanne Martin of Cape Coral, Florida. Four grandchildren, Michael and his wife Anya Rufle, Sarah Freeman, Bart Martin and Jake and his wife Madi Martin. Seven great grand children and two great great grand children.
She was proceeded in death by her loving husband Lawrence E Herrod Jr. of 41 years and her sister Helen Renker.
Private service and burial will take place on Tuesday Sept 16 at Westmoreland County Park in Greensburg, Pa
