Shirley Louise DelGrosso, 71, of New Kensington, passed away peacefully on January 9, 2021. She was born July 20, 1949 in Mt. Pleasant, to the late Daniel and Beaulah Stoner Aller.
Mrs. DelGrosso was owner of the Del-Kid Restaurant in Robinson Township and Shirley’s Café in Arnold with her husband. She was a chaperone at Montour School District and loved children. She was a foster parent for many years. She enjoyed gambling, gardening, and animals, especially dogs. Shirley was not a fan of bingo.
She is survived by her four children, Henry “Hank” (Jolene) DelGrosso, Gina (Joe) Stangl, Ellen Stern, and Augusta (Chris) Winning; nine grandchildren, Kristina (John) Pappaterri, Benjamin Stern, Sydney (Cory) Peterson, Alyssa (Kasey Teyssier) Stangl, Alexis (Kevin) Fennell, Dante DelGrosso, Joseph Karpinski, Dominic DelGrosso, and Robert Winning; five great-grandchildren; and four siblings, Carrie Walker, James Aller, Michael Aller, and Patricia Martin.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her very loved and devoted husband of 40 years, Henry C. DelGrosso; and numerous siblings.
In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make donations in memory of Shirley to the Animal Protectors of Allegheny Valley.
Viewing will be from 2 to 4 & 6 to 8 PM on Friday, January 15, 2021 in the ROSS G. WALKER FUNERAL HOME LTD., 217 Freeport Road, New Kensington, where a funeral service will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, Jan. 16. Rev. Dean Ward will officiate.
