Rosemary A. Pleva, 85, of New Kensington, passed away on Tuesday November 21, 2023 while a resident at Assisted Living at Rosebrook in Sarver. She was born in Tarentum on November 28, 1937 to the late Mildred E. and George H. Gilboux and had been a lifelong resident of the New Kensington area. She was a 1955 graduate of East Deer High School and was previously employed by Westinghouse Electro-Mechanical Division in Cheswick in the purchasing department. That is where she met her future husband Eugene F. Pleva who was also employed there. After leaving Westinghouse to raise her family she then worked as a sales clerk at Kmart in New Kensington and retired in 1991 after 20 years of service.
Rosemary was a member of Mt. St. Peter Roman Catholic Church. She was a lifelong Notre Dame football fan who made numerous trips to South Bend to attend games. She also enjoyed baking, cooking, spending time with her family and attending her grandson’s sporting events. Traveling and trips to Las Vegas with friends were also a favorite of hers along with trips to The Meadows and Rivers Casinos with her dear friend Dona Carabin.
She was preceded in death by her husband Eugene F. Pleva in 2015 and by a sister Mildred Stuckman of Latrobe; brothers Ron Gilboux of Pittsburgh, George Gilboux of Allen, TX and John Gilboux of San Antonio, TX and dear friend Julia DePetro. She is survived by two sons, Mark (wife Diane) Pleva of New Kensington and Tom (wife Barbara) Pleva of Wheeling, WV and her grandsons Nathan (wife Jenna and great granddaughter Audrey), Michael (wife Alison), Matthew, Nicholas, and Jacob Pleva.
The family would like to thank the staff at Rosebrook and Monarch Hospice, especially Holly Bills for all the compassion and support Rosemary received.
A funeral mass will be held at 11 AM on Monday, November 27, 2023 in Mt. St. Peter Roman Catholic Church, 100 Freeport Road, New Kensington, with interment to follow in Greenwood Memorial Park, Lower Burrell. Anyone attending the mass should go directly to the church.
