Robert Alan Gilbert

Robert A. Gilbert, 77, of New Kensington, passed away on Sunday, August 20, 2023, at home.  

He was born November 4, 1945 in New Kensington to the late Adelbert T. & Virginia May McMillen Gilbert, and was also preceded in death by his wife of 45 years, Gail A. Hazlett, brother, Daniel Henry Gilbert, and a niece Connie A. Gilbert.  

Bob was a 1963 graduate of Ken-Hi, and then was a technician at ALCOA, Upper Burrell Township for 30 years, retiring in 1997, he then worked for PPG Industries for several years.  

He belonged to the Monroe Furnace Hunter and Fisherman’s Club, the Seventh Street Sportsmen's Club of New Kensington, and was a social member of the VFW Post 92 of Lower Burrell.  He served as Exalted Ruler of the Elks (B.P.O.E. #512) when they were located in Lower Burrell.  

Surviving are his three daughters, Robin C. Rushnock, Kristine V. Gilbert and Darci L. Gilbert, all of New Kensington; grandchildren, Carin Rushnock, Kaitlynn Wiles and Emma Wiles; and niece, Danielle L. Gilbert.  

Viewing will be on Thursday, August 24, 2023, from 5-8 PM in ROSS G. WALKER FUNERAL HOME LTD., 217 Freeport Road, New Kensington, where a service will be held Friday at 11am by Reverend Dean Ward.  Burial will be in Greenwood Memorial Park, Lower Burrell.  Seventh Street Sportsmen's Club will assemble in the funeral home Thursday at 7:00 PM to hold services for their late member.
