Richard Fennell Obituary

Richard Lyle Fennell, 94, of New Kensington, passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 29, 2024.

He was born December 11, 1929 in Oklahoma Boro, to the late W. J. Bryan Fennell and Alma Ruth Gilchrist Fennell.  

Mr. Fennell served with the Unites States Army from 1951-1953, during the Korean Conflict.  He retired from PPG Creighton in 1994.  

A longtime member of the First Evangelical Lutheran Church of New Kensington, he was also a lifetime member of the VFW Post 92, of Lower Burrell.  

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Donna Bordonaro Fennell; son, Richard Fennell, Jr.; two brothers, James and Vernon Fennell; sister, Edwina Pearce; and son-in-law, Robert Bruce Young.  

Surviving are his children Sue Young, Robert Fennell and Ronald Fennell.

Viewing will be on Friday, March 8, from 2-4 & 6-8 PM in ROSS G. WALKER FUNERAL HOME LTD., 217 Freeport Road, New Kensington.  A funeral service will be held at 11AM on Saturday, March 9, in the First Evangelical Lutheran Church, 221 Ridge Avenue, New Kensington.  Rev. Marsha Adams will officiate.  Anyone attending the service is asked to go directly to the church.  Private entombment will be in Union Cemetery, Arnold.
