Reynold Lee Goerman, 70, of Leechburg, and formerly of New Kensington, died peacefully on Monday, January 8, 2024.
Reynold was born August 17, 1953, in New Kensington, to the late George H. Jr. and Alberta Jean Ramsden Kirkland; and was a 1971 graduate of Valley High School. He then enlisted in the Navy immediately after high school, his specialty being nuclear power. Chief Petty Officer Goerman was a veteran of the US Navy, having served 20 years active service and 10 years in the reserves. He served during the Vietnam War and Desert Storm and was on the USS Mississippi when the first tomahawk missle was launched which started Desert Storm.
Mr. Goerman wrote technical manuals for a ship-building company. He enjoyed making people laugh.
He was a strong adherent of the Allegheny Valley Corps and Community Center of the Salvation Army in Brackenridge, where he enjoyed helping wherever he could. He enjoyed playing games on the computer and woodworking.
Surviving are his wife of 50 years, Kimberly Kirkland Goerman; two daughters, Kari Lee Goerman & Danielle C. Goerman; grandchildren, Merisia, Kevin and Arielle; great-grandchildren, Max and Elias-Gabriel; and siblings, Robert Goerman, Donald Kirkland and sister Donna Gaurich; and numerous nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Dennis Kirkland.
Viewing will be Friday, January 12, 2024, from 2-4 & 6-8 PM in ROSS G. WALKER FUNERAL HOME LTD., 217 Freeport Road, New Kensington, where a service will be held on Saturday, January 13, at 11AM by Captain Bender. Military honors will then be conferred by the Vandergrift Veterans Honor Guard. Private burial will be in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Washington County.
