Regina “Jeanie” M. Hamewka, 94, of New Kensington died peacefully on Monday, August 15, 2022. She was the daughter of the late Vincent and Bertha (Petrosky) Keczmer, born September 8, 1927 in New Kensington where she was raised and lived her entire life. Jeanie was a graduate of Ken High, class of 1945. She held a fierce faith and was a longtime member at St. Mary of Czestochowa Roman Catholic Church and spent many Fridays lovingly pinching pierogies at St. Vladimir Ukranian Catholic Church. She loved to play bingo, was a cardshark, an avid bowler, and enjoyed bargain shopping. Her zest for life, and vivacious personality will be held within our hearts forever, as her spirit will carry on in generations to come. When she recently met our newest family member, Jonah, the joy he brought her filled the room with warmth and love.
Her daily presence will be deeply missed by her nieces, Carla Phillips and Yvonne (John Doleno) Novick; nephews, Robert (Judy) Polaski and Timothy Polaski; great-nephew, Jeremy (Cecilia) Phillips; and great-great nephew, Jonah Casimar Phillips. In addition to her parents, Jeanie is preceded in death by her husband, John Hamewka Sr.; son, John Hamewka Jr.; sisters, Helen Mandak and Rita L. Polaski.
Friends and family will be received from 11:00 a.m. until prayers of transfer at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, August 19, 2022 at Ross G. Walker Funeral Home Ltd., 217 Freeport Road, New Kensington.
