Obituary

Ray Beyer Johnston, 74, of Loganville, GA, and formerly of Lower Burrell, passed away on Dec. 26, 2022, at his home. 

He was born on July 1, 1948 in New Kensington, to the late George and Thelma Bartoe Johnston, and graduated from Burrell High School in 1966.  He served in the United States Navy from 1968-1976, receiving the Presidential Service Certificate for honorable service in the White House Communications Agency.  After his military service, Ray had a 40 year career in the Pulp and Paper Industry as a controls engineer. 

Ray is survived by his wife of 53 years, Nancy Daniels Johnston; son Michael and daughter-in-law Kim, daughter Penny and son-in-law Eric, and daughter Charity and son-in-law Ron;   brother Grant Johnston and sister-in-law Christine, of New Kensington; seven grandchildren, Christopher, Ethan, Bryan, Emily, Sarah, Chloe and Abigail; two great-grandchildren,  Bryan and Victoria. 

Military honors were held January 5, 2023 at the Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, Georgia.  Those desiring may contribute to the Wounded Warrior Project.  Local arrangements by ROSS G. WALKER.
