Ramon Rodriguez Obituary

Ramon Rodriguez, 87, of Lower Burrell, passed away on February 1, 2021.

He was born Ramon Rodriguez Gonzalez in the pueblo de Eixon, Galicia, Spain on November 15, 1933, to the late Camilo Rodriguez Copa and Mercedes Gonzalez Rodriguez.

 

Ramon was born and raised on the family farm in Galicia, Spain, immigrating to the United States in 1961. He was a veteran of the Spanish Army serving in Ferrol. While in Spain he worked for the Spanish railway, Renfe, and as a cobbler. In the United States he worked as a pressman for the former Allegheny Label in Cheswick. Ramon also worked for the Tribune Review, printing USA Today. He was known for his handyman skills, building sheds, repairing things, and cutting grass for family and friends. He was an officer and member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles No. 533 in New Kensington for over 30 years. Ramon loved dogs and was an avid and talented golfer. He was a member of River Forrest Country Club in Freeport PA where he enjoyed playing, and winning, in the Ed Rowe Memorial League.

 

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Patricia J. (Keitzer) Rodriguez of Lower Burrell; daughter, Lisa J. Rodriguez of New Kensington; brother, Camilo Rodriguez Gonzalez of Spain; ferret Maggie, as well as many nieces and nephews both in Spain and the United States.

 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Celestino, Manolo, and Avelino; sister Aurora; nephews Camilo and Antonio; beloved dogs, Sleepy and Savanah; and spoiled ferrets, Lucy and Charlotte.
