Olga Mateya, 97, of Newville, formerly of New Kensington passed away peacefully Friday, October 28, 2022. She was born October 22, 1925 in Braeburn to the late John and Johanna (Lichko) Fabian.
Olga was a steadfast hard worker and real life “Rosie the Riveter”, taking a job at ALCOA during World War II. Following the war, she operated for over 25 years as the pharmacist’s assistant and friendly face at the former Revco Pharmacy in New Kensington. She cherished the Christmas eve tradition Valia, loved dancing to polkas, was a master gardener, and adored her doggy, Sampson. Olga will be forever remembered for her unwavering love and deep commitment to her family.
She is survived by her three sons, Timothy A. (Susan) Mateya, Thomas M. (Susan LaReuse) Mateya, and Mark A. (Ramona) Mateya; six grandchildren, Pamela Draper, Rachel Mateya, Drew (Angela) Mateya, Eric Mateya, Elise (Billy) Bennett, and Julian Mateya; and great grandchildren, Luca, Madeline, and Walter.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her beloved husband and constant companion, Amil “Milky” Mateya, in 1985; five brothers, Joseph, Andrew, Paul, John, and Walter Fabian; and three sisters, Helen Blake, Ann Hawk, and Mary Brzak.
