Nancy Jean (Powell) Stonis

Nancy Jean Stonis, 78, formerly of New Kensington, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 21, 2026.
 
She was born August 15, 1947 in New Kensington to the late Earl & Ann McFarland Powell, and graduated from Ken-Hi in 1965.  She lived in District Heights, MD with her daughter, Ann Allan, the past few years. 
 
Mrs. Stonis was a Customer Service Representative for Bell Telephone and later, Verizon for 30 years, retiring in 2012.  In her spare time, she enjoyed motorcycle riding, the Steelers, and crocheting, especially hats and mittens for the homeless.
 
She is survived by her beloved daughter, Ann Cristina Allan; her sister Diane Perriello; step-son, Peter F. Stonis, III; and her cherished dog, Daisy.
 
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Peter F. Stonis Jr., in 2017; and her brother William “Bill” Powell.

Viewing will be Tuesday, June 2, from 10 AM until services at Noon in ROSS G. WALKER FUNERAL HOME LTD., 217 Freeport Road, New Kensington. Pastor Darryl Johnson will officiate.  Private burial will be in Plum Creek Cemetery, Plum Borough.
