Michael Vincent McCloud, Jr., 48, of Newnan, GA passed away peacefully on June 21, 2021. Born in New Kensington, Pennsylvania, on August 3, 1972; he was the beloved son of Carolyn A. Poole Godson and Michael V. McCloud, Sr.
Michael served honorably in the United States Army and retired in 2013 after serving twenty-three years. During his time in the Armed Forces, he was involved in events in Bosnia, Iraq, Kosovo, and twice in Afghanistan. From 2013 until 2016, Michael worked as a contractor for the United States government in Okinawa, Japan, where he met his beloved wife, Rie Horikawa.
He was passionate about the Pittsburgh Steelers, his profession, and talking with his friends on a regular basis. Michael had a wonderful sense of humor and a great appreciation for cars. He enjoyed driving and travelling with his wife, Rie. Michael truly enjoyed the finer things in life.
He is survived by his wife, Rie McCloud; mother, Carolyn A. Poole Godson; father, Michael V. McCloud, Sr.; children, Victoria, Michael, Derek, Lauryn, Bria, Keira, and Musashi; siblings, Cochelle, Denee, Veldez, Vilonte, Verron; and a host of loving aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in deaths by his maternal grandparents, George and Ora Poole and paternal grandparents, William and Madeline McCloud.
Those wishing may make memorial contributions to Southwest Christian Care Hospice, 7225 Lester Road, Union City, GA 30291 in memory of Michael.
Visitation will be from 4 PM to 7 PM on Sunday, June 27, 2021, in Ross G. Walker Funeral Home Ltd., 217 Freeport Road, New Kensington, where a funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, June 28, 2021. Burial will follow at Mt. Airy Cemetery, Natrona Heights, PA with Military Funeral Honors.
