Mattie L. Brooks, 86, of New Kensington, went home into the loving arms of the Lord on Friday, December 10, 2021. She was born in Nixburg, Alabama on May 21,1935, beloved daughter of the late Louise Edwards.
Mattie grabbed life with gusto, never was scared to tell you how she felt, left no words unspoken, and was an absolute hoot. She was quite the card shark, being the social butterfly she was, she pressed her luck playing Bingo, often winning, and snagging a pizza on the way home for her family to share. As a woman of fierce faith and devotion to Christ, she was a stalwart worshipper at Shiloh Baptist Church. A great supporter of her community, Mattie was a prominent daughter of the Elks Valley Lodge 294 IBPOE of W. Before her retirement she worked as a Data Processing Specialist at Allegheny Ludlum. Above all, Mattie embraced her favorite assignment life bestowed upon her as a doting wife, the most tender-hearted mother, cherished grandmother, adored great-grandmother, and loyal friend. Her feisty spirit, incredible kindness, and humbled thoughtfulness will be long remembered, missed by all who knew Mattie, and forever imprinted upon our hearts.
Mattie is survived by her precious children, Jana Graves, Michael Howell, and Charles (Jodi) Howell; siblings, Audrey Trent, Joann Ackles, and Vernon Edwards; grandchildren, Ian Graves and Justin Roher; great-grandchildren, Jaylen Thomas, Nicholas Anderson, Zyire Roher, McKenzie Graves, and Brooklyn Graves; As well as her children-in-love Robert C. Brooks Jr. and grandson, Alex Brooks, Terence Brooks and grandchildren, Skylor Hayden, Lisa, Robin and Steven Brooks, Jeffrey Brooks and grandchildren, Sydney Marie, Julian and Tyler Brooks; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
In addition to her parents, she will be welcomed into the gates by her loving husband of 29 years, Robert C. Brooks and darling granddaughter, Brandi Howell.
