Mary Ann “Gig” Soback, 89, of Allegheny Twp. became an angel on Saturday, Nov. 13, 2021, at Fawn Personal Care Home where she was a resident. She was born Feb. 28, 1932 in New Kensington to the late Clarence W. and Martha B. (Nee) Starr.
Mary Ann was a graduate of Ken-Hi and as a former parishioner at St. Catherine’s Catholic Parish in Leechburg, she carried a fierce faith in God throughout her entire life. She was an administrative professional, who played an integral role at Alcoa and Bennet’s Supply. Mary Ann adored Trudy, her sweet little Yorkie, who was an absolute treasure to her. They spent many days kicking back on the sofa, watching Soapies, and the quirky behavior of Sheldon Cooper in her favorite Sitcom, The Big Bang Theory. A gal with a heart of gold and great devotion to her community, she was very active with the Shamrock’s Marching Band and played a vital role as their advisor for many years. Amongst all of her accomplishments, Gig was most proud of the family she raised and built through deep love, mercy, and selflessness.
She will be deeply missed by all who knew her, especially her surviving son, William E. (Cathy) Soback; daughter, Marci J. (Mark) Dillner; sister, Patricia (Rich) Masiarik; nephew, Riche Masiarik; and niece, Loren (Mark) Cosentino, and their family, Chelsey, Joe “JJ”, and Kacie.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of nearly 22 years, Edward N. Soback, before his untimely death in June of 1979.
Viewing will be from 2:00 to 4:00 PM on Tuesday, Nov. 16 at ROSS G. WALKER FUNERAL HOME, LTD., 217 Freeport Road, New Kensington, where a blessing service will be held at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, Nov. 17. Burial will follow at Greenwood Memorial Park, Lower Burrell.
