Mary Ann Elizabeth Taper, 62, devoted mother, grandmother, aunt, and sister went home to be with the Lord the evening of September 27th, 2022. She was born July 18th, 1960 in New Kensington to the late Thelma Taper and Dempsey Nolan.
She was a graduate of Valley High School, class of ‘78. She studied architectural design and computer science before ultimately pursuing a career in nursing and graduating from St. Francis School of Nursing class of ‘91. After working in multiple care settings, she retired in 2015 shortly after the birth of her only grandchild, Thelia, whom she loved and adored. They could both be found most days propagating and watering her many plants and flowers, watching international films, playing board games, or baking a sweet treat together. Her family will miss all the delicious meals for special events and holidays she prepared. And the occasional call to pick up leftovers cause once again "Aunt Puddin" cooked too much food!
Although we will all miss her dearly, we know she is in good hands; the same nail pierced hands that will hold our hearts as we continue on in this world without her.
Mary Ann at her core was an amazing, blessed, God fearing woman, who really took pride in taking care of her family and everyone else in between. She could find the humor in anything especially while conversing with lifelong friends, Doreen Hayden and Leslie Campbell. Her daily presence will be missed and forever remembered by her children, Crystal Riggs, Marissa Key, and granddaughter, Thelia Key. Brother, Scott Albert Taper Jr., of Palo Alto, Calif. and Sister, Geraldine (David) D'argan of Massachusetts (formerly New Kensington) along with a host of neices and nephews.
Besides her parents, Mary Ann was preceded in death by her sisters, Lois Jean Green, Christine Taper Kitchens, nephews, Christopher Garland, David "Tony" D'argan, Orlando "Lanny" D'argan, Juan D'argan, and nieces, Tanell Williams and Nekisha D'argan.
Friends and family are asked to join in a memorial dinner on Sunday Oct. 2nd from 4pm to 7pm at the Lazarus' Tomb, 1821 5th Ave Arnold, PA 15068. All arrangements entrusted to Ross G. Walker Funeral Home Ltd., New Kensington. Please visit www.rossgwalker.com to leave a memory of Mary Ann.
