Mary Kus Obituary

Mary Lou Kus, 82, passed away peacefully on November 16, 2022 in her home.

She was born on June 15, 1940 in Brookline to the late Alaric and Hilda Mansmann, graduated from South Hills High School, and moved to Greentree, where she drove a school bus for special needs children.  She also worked in retail at J.C. Penney.

In 1995, she married Thomas Walter Kus and moved to New Kensington. Together they enjoyed traveling, spending time with family, their daily walks at the various local parks, and watching football and classic movies.

Mary Lou enjoyed cooking, crossword puzzles, watching “Dancing with the Stars”, gardening and listening to all types of music, especially "The Vogues”.  She was an avid fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers, the Penn State Nittany Lions and the Pitt Panthers.

She was a long time member of “St. Mary of Czestochowa Roman Catholic Church”, where she enjoyed attending mass every week with her husband, as her unwavering faith was of utmost importance to her.

Mary Lou was a kind, friendly, generous, selfless, loving person. Everyone she encountered was greeted with a smile and warm hearted conversation.

Besides her husband, who died October 21, 2022, and her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister Shirley Bonini, and her brother Thomas Mansmann.

She leaves behind her nieces: Sharon Bonini, Lisa Vail, Diann Murtaugh and a nephew, William Bonini. In addition to several cousins, she also is is survived by her step daughter, Gwynne Schweiker and her husband, Gary Schweiker.

A graveside service will be held at the convenience of the family when she will be laid to rest beside her husband at St. Mary Catholic Cemetery in Lower Burrell.  Arrangements were entrusted to ROSS G.
