Martha Jane (Custer) Gould

Martha Jane Gould, 106, formerly of New Kensington, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 26, 2026, in Florida where she lived the past several years.  

She was born Sept. 29, 1919, in New Kensington to the late Harvey J. & Anna Stratton Custer and was a 1938 graduate of Ken-Hi.  She also graduated from Westmoreland Community College with an associate degree.

Mrs. Gould enjoyed painting, arts and crafts, bowling and card parties.  

Survivors include her children, James Reed (Diane) Gould, Ernestine Martha (Larry) Bode, Linda Rae Carney and Gail Ann Tuten; 11 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Vernon Reed Gould in 2004; son, Harvey Charles Mills; brother William Custer; and sister Vera Johannes.

Viewing will be Thursday, July 9, 2026 from 6-9PM in ROSS G. WALKER FUNERAL HOME LTD., 217 Freeport Road, New Kensington where services will be held Friday. July 10 at 10AM.  Reverend Dean Ward will officiate.  Entombment will follow in Greenwood Memorial Park, Lower Burrell.
