Marlene Y. Wright, 91, of New Kensington, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully on March 17, 2026.
She was born July 21, 1934.
She is survived by four children, Kevin Joseph Wright, Mark Richard Wright, Toni Wright, and Erik Joel Wright, along with one grandchild, Shawn Murdock Wright, her brother, Jim Powell, one step-grandchild Cordell Zuill and one daughter-in-law Veronica Wright. Marlene was the shining light to her four kids. She brought so much happiness, unconditional love and wisdom into our lives, forever our beacon to get through tough times. We could always count on her to give us her ear and offer words of comfort. She was our rock and our confidante. She had a way of seeing things clearly, no matter the situation. Her bright spirit and warm presence filled the hearts of everyone who knew her. Her laughter would cause anyone who was nearby to laugh, her laughter was contagious. She thoroughly enjoyed playing cards and dishing out her favorite jabs of humor. She was a Jehovah’s Witnesses. She enjoyed talking to others about Bible Truths and her hope for a paradise new world. She loved and trusted Jehovah completely. Her favorite scripture was Psalms 145:16. She was a faithful servant of integrity throughout her life. She fought the fine fight, she ran the race to the finish, she observed the faith. She endured to the end and is safe in Jehovah’s memory. As we mourn the loss of our mother, we take comfort in the knowledge that she is just asleep, resting – awaiting the call from Jehovah to awaken to life again in paradise. We will see you tomorrow mum!
She is preceded in death by her parents, John Cobb and Mary (Johnson) Powell; her loving husband of 54 years, Joseph Wright, Jr., who passed away on Aug. 5, 2010; and brothers, John Cobb and Lucky Powell.
