Marjorie L. Walters, 98, of York, PA passed away peacefully at Normandie Ridge Senior Living Community on Friday, Oct. 8, 2021. She was born July 23, 1923 in Armstrong County to the late Elmer Edwin and Mary Ellen (Wagner) Elwood.
Marjorie was a graduate of Har-Brack High School and worked as a banker at People’s Bank of Tarentum prior to her marriage. After marrying Charles, they eventually moved from Cambridge Springs, PA to York, PA. This is where she remained for the next 55 years. Marjorie was a woman of great dedication to her community; she was a member of the Golden Crown Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star, the Woman’s Club of York, the Salvation Army of York, and was active in many groups associated with the Asbury United Methodist Church of York.
Marjorie is survived by her son, David C. Walters (Beatrice); daughter-in-law, Deborah L. Walters; grandchildren, David C. Walters II, Philip J. Walters, Erica K. Zilk (John), Andrea K. Popovich (Eric), Christina L. Magnotta (Nicholas); five great-grandchildren; eight nieces; and one nephew.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of over 50 years, Dr. Charles H. Walters, in 2003; her son, Edwin Lee Walters; her brothers, John and Harold Elwood; and her sisters, D. Jean Shumaker and Thelma Grace Beers.
