Margaret Ann “Peg” Johnson, 86, of Lower Burrell, passed away unexpectedly on December 12th, surrounded by her loving family. Born November 18, 1939 in Acmetonia to the late Harry & Margaret “Peg” Palmer, Peg would graduate from Springdale High School class of 1957, where a fellow classmate named Byrl would become the love of her life for the next 65 years. Peg would become a homemaker, which she took tremendous pride in. You never left her house on an empty stomach, and no matter who you were, she always made you feel welcomed, and loved. Peg was a member of Order of the Eastern Star, Kittanning Chapter 277 (formerly Springdale 453) for 63 years, serving in varying roles, most notably Worthy Matron, 5 times. Peg also volunteered time at the VA Hospital Heinz Campus in the ceramics department for 42 years, amassing thousands of volunteer hours. Peg loved to bake, play bingo, but more than anything, she loved her family, and her heart was fullest when everyone was together for holidays, reunions, and the like. Peg was preceded in death by her aforementioned parents, her sister Laura “Lolly” Zubal, and brother baby Harry. She is survived by her husband of 65 years Byrl Sr., daughters Laura (Al) Jordan, Lynda (Scott) Cameron, both of Lower Burrell, and Son Byrl Jr. (Susie) of Tarentum. Grandchildren Laura (Rob) Kroner, Carrie (DJ) Jordan, Sam Johnson, Abbey (Steve) Flaherty, Savannah Crawford, Kaylyn (Alex) Cameron, and Delaney (Ryan) Hutchison. Great-Grandson Henry Crawford, and special family friends Doug (Jackie) Montanari, Tom Leslie, and Sarah Jarvis.
Family and friends will be received on Tuesday December 16th from 5pm-8pm in the ROSS G. WALKER FUNERAL HOME LTD., 217 Freeport Road, New Kensington, with Eastern Star services at 7:00pm. A funeral service will follow at noon on Wednesday, December 17. Private burial will be at Deer Creek Cemetery, Harmar Twp. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to VA Heinz Campus, 1010 Delafield Rd, Pittsburgh 15215. To know Peg was to love Peg, and we will miss her dearly, and cherish her memories for the rest of our lives.
