M. Esther Skinner, 93, of Springdale died Tuesday, Nov. 30, 2021 at Oakmont Presbyterian Senior Care where she was a resident for the last six years. She was born January 25, 1928 in Springdale to the late John and Redlin (Forizs) Susch.
Esther was a 1947 graduate of Springdale High. Embracing her education, she went on to earn her bachelor’s degree from the former Carnegie Tech, now Carnegie Mellon University, and master’s degree from the University of Pittsburgh. She was a guiding light to all the lives she touched as she was a high school teacher in Douglas County, Georgia, New South Wales, Australia, Gaithersburg, Maryland and locally in Freeport School District. Esther was a devout Episcopal who carried a strong faith and commitment to God with her throughout her entire life. In her early years, she enjoyed travelling and experiencing new places, people, and ideas. She loved reading and would read several books per week up until the time of her death.
She will be deeply missed by her surviving family, especially Florence Forizs, Marsha (Paul) Levish and Lisa (Jim) Haley.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Joe, John, and Frank Susch; and sisters, Lorraine, Rose, Lucy, and Ethel Susch and Ann Norman.
Per Esther’s request, all services will be private and are entrusted to Ross G. Walker Funeral Home Ltd., 217 Freeport Road, New Kensington.
