Louis H. Helgert, 82, of East Vandergrift, and formerly of New Kensington, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 20, 2024.
He was born in New Kensington on October 5, 1941 to the late Louls J. & Grace Sutton Helgert.
Mr. Helgert was a Navy veteran, serving from 1959-1970, and was a pipe fitter and later crane operator at Allegheny Ludlum in Brackenridge for 34 years. He enjoyed classic and especially John Wayne movies, the TV series “The Wild Wild West,” and reading western novels, music from the 50’s and 60’s, and cooking and eating at home.
Survivors include his loving wife of 61 years, Marlene C. Danjou Helgert; children, Louis A. (Geraldine) Helgert, Christine (John) Walsh, Karen (Jeffrey) Shepler, David (Lenora) Helgert and Lona M. (Christopher) Householder; grandchildren, Heather, Megan, Breanna, Gabrielle, Craig, Cassidy, Brandon, Jessica, Robert, and Victoria; numerous great-granchildren; and his brother, Ronald Helgert.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by siblings, John Helgert, and twins that died in infancy, Jean & Joan.
Private services were entrusted to ROSS G. WALKER FUNERAL HOME LTD. of New Kensington.
