Lorraine Godson

Lorraine Godson, 74, of New Kensington, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 1, 2024, surrounded by her loving family.

She was born September 11, 1949, in New Kensington, to the late Arthur B. Godson II and Hattie Louise Gregory Godson, was a 1969 graduate of Ken-Hi and received an associate degree from Wayne State University.

Lorraine was a Registered Nurse at Presbyterian Senior Care and Longwood at Oakmont for over 20 years.  She was a longtime member of Mt. Calvary Missionary Baptist Church, and previous to that was a member of Canaan First Baptist Church of New Kensington.  She enjoyed playing bingo and watching Tyler Perry Movies, and especially cooking for her family.  

Survived by her daughter, Tiffany L. Hayden; two grandsons, Deion and Da’Shon Hayden; her lifelong companion Michael Wilson; and brothers, Arthur B. Godson III, Merle Bouchat Godson and Ned Ray Godson.

Besides her parents, Lorraine was preceded in death by her twin sister, the Reverend LaVerne Embry, and brothers, James Robert Godson, Nathaniel Hawthorne Godson and William C. Godson.  

Viewing will be on Monday, June 10, 2024, from 2-4 & 6-8 PM in ROSS G. WALKER FUNERAL HOME LTD., 217 Freeport Road, New Kensington.  A service will be held on Tuesday, June 11, 2024, at 11 AM in Mt. Calvary Missionary Baptist Church, 1150 Asa W. Roberts Way (formerly Fourth Avenue), New Kensington.  Private burial will be in Mt. Airy Cemetery, Natrona Heights.
