Lois Reese Obituary

Lois V. Brown Reese, 99, formerly of Ford City, passed away peacefully at home on October 25, 2024, the day after her 99th birthday.

She was born in Ford City, PA on October 24, 1925, to the late Theodore J. & Mary McKain Greene.

Lois was preceded in death by her first husband Glenn A. Brown, her second husband Edward G. Reese, and a daughter-in-law Nannette Brown.

Surviving are two sons, James A. (Diane) Brown, John T. Brown, and daughter Reverend Mary Kay (Mark Boyer) Brown; her sister Gloria F. Arco; six grandchildren, Adrienne (Keith) Fitzsimmons, Stacie (Benjamin) King, Kearn Brown, Glenna Brown, Dylan (Haley Radvany) Boyer and Abigail (Glenn) Barb; and three great grandchildren Colin Fitzsimmons, Elijah King and Breanna Fitzsimmons-Meadows.

Lois was a Past Matron and a 50-year member of the Kittanning Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star; a member of Macedonia White Shrine; the Daughters of the Nile; New Kensington Chapter of the Eastern Star; and the Ladies Auxiliary of Duquesne Commandery of the Knights Templar.  She received the Grand Cross of Colors from the Order of Rainbow for girls.  Lois loved Eastern Star and cherished the friendships she made there.

Throughout her lifetime she loved serving her church and community. Lois and her father became the first father-daughter combination to serve on the Board of Sessions of the First Presbyterian Church in Ford City. She loved good music of all kinds and for more than 30 years was church organist at the First Presbyterian and Crooked Creek Presbyterian Churches.  She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Ford City in her later years. Lois also volunteered at the Ford City Public Library and served on the Armstrong County Election Board.

Lois was especially gifted at caring for others. To her family, friends, church and neighbors she will be remembered for her thoughtful cards, phone calls, and willingness to lend a listening ear or a willing hand.  Her smiling face will be sorely missed by many.
