Our Beloved Mom, Sister, Grandma, Great Grandma, Aunt, and friend Lillian Farrell a.k.a. “Pearl”, 78 of Plum Borough took her rest from this life on June 12, 2021, surrounded by her children.
She was born September 14, 1942, in Upper Burrell Township, Westmoreland County, PA to the late Nathaniel Vining and Lucille Taylor and step-father William R. Johnson Sr. of Lincoln Beach. Lillian was married to Clyde E. Farrell Sr. for forty years, he preceded her in death.
A born again believer and faithful member at Bethlehem Temple Faith Church where she served nearly a lifetime in various roles primarily as Secretary, and participating Resolution Committee member. She also was a dedicated Missionary in her National Church Organization at True Apostolic Church of Jesus Christ Association Incorporated. She used the gift of encouragement, counselor, and teacher to all who crossed her path.
Lillian was also known as “ PEARL”, she dedicated her life to being a mother to everyone in her community and her children. A pearl is uniquely formed when a grain of sand slips between the mantle and the shell of an oyster. This creates irritation to the mantle, and to protect itself, the oyster then carefully coats the grain layer by layer with a nacre- also called the MOTHER of PEARL – a mineral substance that’s used to create the shell. Eventually with enough layers a beautiful pearl forms. (Terri, Tonya, Anita, Cynthia, Clyde Melissia, Nathan, Matthew, Lillian, and Torre her ten pearls). A pearl symbolizes the precious bond between mother and child. Her wisdom and council were timeless heirlooms just like the pearl, rare, loved, and valued.
Out of all the jewels, the pearl is the only gem that has organic origins and born of the water. Her presence will be deeply missed and she will never be forgotten.
Surviving are her children: Terri Jones, Tonya (Gerald) Daniels, Anita (Milton) Obey, Cynthia (Jonathan) Terrell, Clyde Jr. (Vanessa) Farrell, Melissia (Lorenzo) Beckham, Nathan (Michelle) Farrell, Matthew (Debra) Farrell, Lillian K. Farrell, Torre (Joe) Farrell-Davis. Siblings: Mary V. Bailey, Jean E. Johnson, William R. Johnson, Jr. and Vivian (James) Powell, thirty-five Grand Children, forty Great Grandchildren, and numerous relatives and friends.
Preceding her in death: Napoleon Vining step-brother, Doris Griffin step-sister, Nathaniel Vining Jr., Robert Vining, Fred Vining, Frances Vining, Virginia Vining, Delphia Vining.
