Kimberly E. "Kim" Mentecki Obituary

Kimberly E. “Kim” Mentecki, 56, of New Kensington, became whole and transitioned as she embarked on a new journey with her loyal family by her side in her home after a fearless 12-year battle against breast cancer on Monday, Nov. 8, 2021. Born Dec. 19, 1964 in Natrona Heights, she was the beloved daughter of Raymond and Karen (Stahlman) Gretz; darling wife of 16 wonderful years to her husband, Todd R. Mentecki; and dedicated mother to her pride and joy, her daughter, Courtney Mentecki.

Kim was a graduate of Burrell High School Class of 1982 and went on to study business administration at Robert Morris University. Her specialty in human resource management directed her path to Los Angeles where she worked for 13 years at Paramount Pictures, before heading back home to work alongside her mother for 20 years as a manager and bridal consultant in their family business, Babe’s Broadway Bridal Shop. She was a pure warrior, and stalworth advocate for breast cancer awareness and truly embodied the essence of a champion. Kim never missed a beat, attending all of Courtney’s volleyball matches and extracurricular events. Her curiosity and love for new experiences lead her on many adventures including the beach and Las Vegas, creating memories that are imprinted deep within our hearts forever. At her core, Kim was a hometown girl and a diehard Pittsburgh Steeler fan. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered for her bravery, leading without fear, and teaching us all to be present in each and every cherished moment.

In addition to her parents, husband, and daughter, Kim is survived by her stepdaughters, Carlee and Katie Mentecki; brothers, Rob (Tracy) and Scott Fassinger; and nephews, Matthew and Deklan Fassinger.
