Joseph Stuart Nixon, 88, of Lower Burrell died peacefully on Monday, September 19, 2022. He was born in New Kensington on May 6, 1934, to the late Louis and Maud (Wright) Nixon.
Joe was a graduate of Plum High School, Class of 1952. Following high school, he went on to work for Consolidated Coal from age 18 until he was 52, where he was a vital member of their company serving as the Assistant Superintendent. Joe retired from Rochester & Pittsburgh Coal in Indiana, PA. A man of great dedication to his family and community, he was an EMT for Kinloch Firehall where he was a lifetime member, The Slovene National Benefit Society, and a member of United Presbyterian Church of New Kensington.
His daily presence will be deeply missed by his wife of 67 years, Marian “Mamie” L. (Potochnik) Nixon; three children, Sheree L. (Fran) Haus of Wexford, Joseph M. (Alexis) Nixon, and Terri Lynn (Dean) Pollino both of Lower Burrell; four grandchildren, Joshua (Amber) Pollino, Fran Haus IV, Jena (Jason) Kuruc, and Mitchell Pollino; four great-grandchildren, Brylee, Kolton, Lexie, and Ariana; and his brother, Kenneth Nixon.
In addition to his parents, he joins his brother, Charles Nixon in heaven.
