John E. Kristof

John E. “J” Kristof, 57, of Cheswick, died Sunday, June 12, 2022 at UPMC East Hospital, Monroeville surrounded by his family and friends. He was born September 21, 1964 in Indiana, PA to John Kristof Jr. and Carole (Evans) Kristof. 

J was a graduate of Burrell High School Class of 1983, and later graduated from Grove City College and the Central Baptist Theological Seminary. He worked in Institutional Asset Management for PNC Bank as an Administrative Assistant. He served as a deacon at the First Baptist Church of Indiana, and most recently practiced his faith at the First Baptist Church of Monroeville where he served on the mission committee for years and on the pastoral search committee. He loved playing pinochle, walking, listening to music, reading, and he passionately followed all the Pittsburgh sports teams. J was always lighthearted, caring and could make anyone laugh.  He loved his cats Darth Vadar and Sasha Grayce.

J will forever be remembered for his most giving heart, deep commitment to his family and friends, unwavering strength and his strong faith. 

J is survived by his wife of 27 wonderful years, Melissa D. (Frechette) Kristof; father, John Kristof Jr.; mother, Carole (Evans) Kristof; brother, Dave (Lauren) Kristof; Uncles, Bob (Joan) Kristof and Rob (Julie) Evans; nieces and nephews, Adam, Nicole, and Chelsea Kristof & Jay, Addison, Brady, and Felecia Frechette; brothers-in-law, Jim (Conner), Andy (Denise), and Frank (Cherie) Frechette.

John was preceded in death by his mother-in-law, Patricia Frechette-Cotton.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in John’s memory to The Lustgarten Foundation, lustgarten.org, in support of Pancreatic Cancer Research which John so fervently battled with dignity.
