John Robert Carnahan, Sr. Obituary

John R. Carnahan, Sr., 95, of New Kensington, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 3, 2023.  


He was born September 23, 1928, in New Kensington to the late Walter & Doris (Adamson) Carnahan, and was a graduate of Ken-Hi and then served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict.


Mr. Carnahan was a supervisor for West Penn Power Company for 38 years, retiring in 1994.  


Survivors include his wife of 71 years, Norma Jean Poe Carnahan; children, John R. Carnahan Jr., Jill L. Carnahan, Jean Marie Kiehl and Janet L. (Tony) Rossi; ten grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and his sister, Mary Louise Soulcheck.  


Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Jamie Sue Burga; brother James Carnahan; and sister Lois Yonce.  


Viewing will be Monday, October 9, from 11am until services at 1pm in ROSS G. WALKER FUNERAL HOME LTD., 217 Freeport Road, New Kensington.  Rev. Dean Ward will officiate.  Burial will follow in Greenwood Memorial Park, Lower Burrell.
