Joan Elizabeth Plasynski, 84, of Upper Burrell Township passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 8, 2020. She was born January 13, 1936 in Brackenridge, a daughter of the late James and Ruth (Greenwood) Johnston.
She was a graduate of Ken-Hi Class of 1953, and a secretary at St. Joseph Grade School, now Mary Queen of Apostles in New Kensington for 27 years, retiring in 2000. She previously worked at the Aluminum Company of America in the Wear-Ever building, and also as a ward secretary at Citizens General Hospital. Mrs. Plasynski was a member of St. Mary of Czestochowa Roman Catholic Church.
Survivors include her daughter, Lori Ann (David) Madeja of Upper Burrell; son, Sean Ira (Karen) Plasynski of Jefferson Hills; grandchildren, John (Nicole) Madeja and Jennifer Madeja, both of Upper Burrell, Kyle (Shay) Plasynski of West Mifflin, Devon (Kayla) Plasynski of North Carolina, and Julia Plasynski and Alexa Plasynski, both of Jefferson Hills; great- grandson, Alex Johnson; and sister, Jane (Ronald) Reed of New Kensington.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, John Roman Plasynski.
Viewing will be from 2 PM until 8 PM on Friday, Dec. 11 in the ROSS G. WALKER FUNERAL HOME LTD., 217 Freeport Road, New Kensington, where prayers of transfer will be held at 9:30 AM on Saturday, Dec. 12, followed by a Christian funeral Mass at 10 AM in St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, 1125 Leishman Ave., New Kensington.
