Jenifer E. (Thrower) Mason

Jenifer E. Thrower Mason, 78, of New Kensington, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 24, 2024.

She was born in New Kensington on February 21, 1946 to the late Henry & Bernice Ross Thrower.  

Jenifer was a 1964 graduate of Ken_Hi and worked as a secretary for the Municipal Water Authority of New Kensington, Burrell Construction and Supply Company and ALCOA, All the while, she was co-owner, of Mason’s Hotel (Fox’s Hotel) in the Lincoln Beach section of Upper Burrell Township.  

A family oriented woman and devoted mother and wife, she was a life-time member of Mt. Calvary Missionary Baptist Church of New Kensington, where her grandmother, Mrs. Waugh, was a founding member.  She was the founding member of the Willie Thrower Foundation, was an avid card player and sports fan, and enjoyed spending time with her friends.  

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband John E. Mason, and son, John E. Mason, Jr., and three sisters, Trudy Carvin, Karen Thrower and Miriam Jarnigan.  

Surviving are her daughter, Rae. L. Mason; many nieces and nephews, cousins and friends. 

Viewing will be Monday, June 3, 2024, from 2-4 & 6-8 PM in ROSS G. WALKER FUNERAL HOME LTD., 217 Freeport Road, New Kensington.     A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, June 4, at 11:00 AM in Mt. Calvary Missionary Baptist Church, 1150 Asa W. Roberts Way (formerly Fourth Avenue), New Kensington.  Anyone attending the service should go directly to the church.  Repast will follow at Mason’s Hotel.
