Virginia “Jean” A. (D’Amico) Lombardo, 76, of New Kensington, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 1, 2024 at Shadyside Hospital after a long illness.
Originally from Youngstown Ohio, she was born on April 26, 1948 to the late Samuel L. and Ann T. (DeCola) D’Amico.
She will be deeply missed by her husband of 35 years, Samuel N. Lombardo and her sons Samuel A. Lombardo and Nicholas J. Lombardo, and special family friend, Christopher Bachman. She is also survived by her brothers Robert T. D’Amico and James P. (Pamela) D’Amico both of North Jackson, Ohio and several nieces and nephews.
She attended Cardinal Mooney High School in Youngstown, Ohio, Youngstown State University, where she was the president of the Tri Sigma Sorority, and Boston University. She served as Vice President of Corporate Fundraising for the United Way, a role that took her across the United States, including to Boston, MA, Houston, TX, and New York, NY, all places she lived prior to New Kensington. She also worked in fundraising for the Pittsburgh United Way and the Sisters of Charity of Seton Hill.
Jean was an avid baker and ran Angelisanti Confections, a small kitchen bakery. She sold her well-loved goods at local farmer’s markets and other small business in the area. Jean also had a passion for gardening and was a member of Mt. St. Peter’s Catholic Church in New Kensington.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the ICU and Oncology Department nurses and staff at Shadyside Hospital for their compassionate care of Jean and her family.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Please join us to celebrate and honor Jean's life with a viewing from 5:00 to 8:00 pm, Wednesday, June 5, 2024 at Ross G. Walker Funeral Home, 217 Freeport Road, New Kensington. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, June 6 at 10:00 am at Mt. St. Peter Parish, 100 Freeport Road, New Kensington. Anyone attending the Mass is asked to go directly to the church. Burial will be private.
