Irvin Paul Carter

Irvin Paul Carter, 73, of New Kensington, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 9, 2024.  

He was born in New Kensington on July 18, 1950 to the late Irvin & Velma Kendall Carter, and was a 1968 graduate of Ken-Hi and a graduate of New Kensington Commercial School. 

Mr. Carter was a layout and typesetter specialist at the Valley News Dispatch for 39 years, retiring in 2010.  He enjoyed working out three times a week at the YMCA in New Kensington, played basketball in his younger years, collected comic books, watched and traveled to WWE wrestling matches, and really enjoyed music and listening to his large collection of vinyl records.  

Paul’s greatest joy, however was being involved in the lives of his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grand-children.

Survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Cynthia L. Rusz Carter; three adoring daughters, Kirsten M. Carter, Deborah L. (David) McKain and Paula A. (Justin) Romandy; cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Paul (Cortney) Rodriguez, and their daughter Mila, Alexander and Delaney Rodriguez, Nora (Christian) Serrano, and their son Mateo, Paige Carter and Mya Hubbard and her son Carter Pannell, and Tyler Romandy; former son-in-law, Dean Rodriguez; sister-in-law, Karen (Albert) Jenniches, several other brothers and sisters-in-law; and his sister Grace. 

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister JoAnn, and his grandson, Devin Romandy.  

Viewing will be on Saturday, April 13, from 1PM until services at 4PM in ROSS G. WALKER FUNERAL HOME LTD., 217 Freeport Road, New Kensington.  Rev. Dean Ward will officiate at the service.
