Guy “Junior” Colaianni 76, devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother and loyal friend, of Lower Burrell died unexpectedly Thursday, September 1, 2022 at his home after a brief illness. He was born in New Kensington on January 24, 1946, son of the late Guy Sr. and Rose (DeMao) Colaianni.
Guy was a man who believed in hard work, a good provider, and was a wonderful mentor and teacher. He held a sharp mechanical mind and had a passion for cars, motorcycles and the outdoors. He also had an ear for great music. Affectionately known as “Pap-Pap Neutron” by his cherished grandchildren, he was Mr. Fix It, always providing, protecting, and caring for those he loved the most. Guy retired from Curtis Wright Corp. after 40 years where he was a tool grinder and fork truck operator. He was a member of the International IBEW local 1914, Gilpin Sportsmen Club and a past member of the American Musical Society. He played the keyboard and accordion in the band “The Rising Suns” which he led for over 20 years. Guy was a former member of the Latrobe Harley Owners group and traveled throughout the U.S. with Patti on their Harley’s. They spent 3 months a year at their son’s place in Melbourne Beach, Florida, since their retirement, where he enjoyed fishing, and great dinners out with his best friend, Patti. He also vacationed for the past 27 years in the summer at Myrtle Beach. He spent a lot of time over the years with his family fishing and boating on Lake Erie. Guy loved to hear his grandson, Brandon, sing at school concerts and looked forward to seeing him as a commercial airline pilot one day. He went to many of his granddaughter, Lexi’s events, but watching her play basketball was his favorite.
His deep love and daily presence will be missed most by his beloved wife of 56 years, Patti (Fushofer) Colaianni; two cherished sons, Chris (Kerrie) Colaianni of Allegheny Township and Matt Colaianni of Saltsburg; and his adored grandchildren, Brandon and Lexi Colaianni; and his sister, Josie (Reed) Yeasted of Largo, Florida. Also survived by family friend, Larry Andrei (referred to as their 3rd son), Sister-in-laws Betty (John) Engle, Maria Lants and many nieces and nephews.
Guy joins his parents Guy Sr. and Rose along with his dog “Buffy” in heaven. Per his wishes all services were private and entrusted to ROSS G. WALKER FUNERAL HOME LTD. 217 Freeport Road, New Kensington, PA 15068. Please visit www.rossgwalker.com to leave a tribute or memory of Guy.
