Geraldine Linda (Swanlund) Petor, 94, formerly of New Kensington passed peacefully to be with the Lord on Friday, September 10, 2022 at Walden’s View, Anova Hospice, North Huntingdon. She was born October 15, 1927 in Afton, MN to loving parents, Alfred and Emilie (Erickson) Swanlund.
Geraldine loved the Lord and studied the Bible diligently. She was active in Bible studies, Ladies Aid Society of John Huss Lutheran Church, cofounded and participated in the Ship of Joy worship group and sang many years with the St. Jude Choral Society. Prior to marriage she attended Hamline University in St. Paul, MN and was an office clerk for the Stillwater State Prison, Bayport, MN. She was a teacher’s aide for the New Kensington Arnold School District and enjoyed working with the students. Geraldine was the most loving wife and above all, most incredible caring mother/grandmother in the world with a gentle spirit, beautiful heart, genuine compassion, thoughtfulness, supportive, creative, empathetic, wonderful friend, and a blessing to all who were fortunate to know her. Throughout the years, Geraldine enjoyed golfing, tennis, swimming, hiking, singing, writing songs, making banners for the church, painting, crocheting, and was an amazing seamstress.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, John Petor, who she met in Panama where she lived from 1944 to 1949; three siblings, Charles Swanlund, Captain Merritt Swanlund, and Myrtle Wiggs.
She is survived by her three loving devoted children – daughters, Emelia (Charles) Wielobob of North Huntingdon and Andrea Petor of Houston, TX; son, John (Constance) Petor of Atlantic, PA; eight beloved grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Geraldine will be deeply missed by her family and beautiful loving friends.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to John Huss Evangelical Lutheran Church.

Walker Funeral Home Ltd., 217 Freeport Road, New Kensington, where additional viewing will be from 9:30 a.m. until parting prayers at 10:30 am Wednesday, followed by Funeral Service at 11 a.m. at John Huss Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1539 Kenneth Ave., Arnold with Pastor Jerome E.
