Our beloved Geraldine D'Argan entered into God's Rest on Saturday, Dec. 3, 2022, after a short battle with lung cancer. Geraldine was 75 and was surrounded by her loved ones when she transitioned. She was born June 15, 1947, in New Kensington, to the late Thelma Taper and Scott Albert Taper.
Geraldine found joy and purpose in serving others and spent many years doing so professionally as a certified nursing assistant. This passion also extended beyond the workplace, where she touched countless lives in her service to others in her family and in her community. In addition to her knack for service, Geraldine also possessed a creative side. She could often be found with a needle in her hand; be it sewing, knitting, crocheting or needlepoint. She also enjoyed board games, playing cards and spending time with family. Geraldine, lovingly called Mom, Grandma, Nan-Na, Aunt Geraldine, and Gerry by many, was one of the strongest women to walk this earth. Amongst the many attributes that she possessed, Geraldine was a resilient, kind-hearted, family-oriented, and nurturing woman.
She was a source of inspiration to us all and she will be deeply missed by everyone whose lives she touched, including her seven daughters, Justina E. Nolen, Nina S. Scott, Tanua L. D'Argan, Deneen Springs, Michelle D'Argan, Theresa D'Argan Blake and Lois D'Argan-Bent; one brother, Scott Albert Taper Jr.; a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She has left an imprint on so many lives and we are charged with the huge task of carrying on her legacy and her light as we continue to live our lives (because that's what she truly wanted). Preceding her in death were her loving husband of 48 years, David D'Argan; her mother, Thelma Taper; her father, Scott Albert Taper; three sons, David A. D'Argan Jr., Orlando A. D'Argan and Juan Miguel D'Argan; three sisters, Christine Kitchen, Lois Jean Green, and Mary Ann Taper; granddaughters, Tanelle Williams and Nekisha D'Argan; great-grandsons, Xevier D'Argan and Osie DArgan; and nephew, Christopher Garland. In these moments of sorrow, we should find confidence and peace in knowing that Geraldine was a God-fearing woman and remind ourselves that while this is the end of Geraldine's physical life on Earth, that God has promised Geraldine, and us, a life much more beautiful and abundant than this Earth could ever offer. So, until we meet again, find comfort in God's promises of an eternal life, free from pain and suffering, filled with peace, joy and hope.
Memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 14, 2022, at ROSS G. WALKER FUNERAL HOME LTD., 217 Freeport Road, New Kensington. Following the service, a repast will be held at MJ's Bar & Grille, 1735 4th Ave, Arnold, PA 15068.
