Gennaro "Jerry" Pasquale Torchia

Gennaro P. “Jerry” Torchia, 87, of Lower Burrell, passed away on Wednesday, October 23, 2024.

He was born August 28, 1937 in Miglierina, Cantanzaro, Italy to the late Saverio & Sylvia Scalise Torchia and emigrated to the United States in 1955.  

Mr. Torchia was a union carpenter and later owned his own business, Jerry Torchia General Contracting in Lower Burrell.  

Jerry was a longtime member of Mt. St. Peter Roman Catholic Church of New Kensington, and enjoyed going to the gym, gardening, feeding wildlife, traveling to various beaches and his hometown in Italy, and especially spending time with his grandchildren and his family.

Surviving are his children, Sam (Cheila) Torchia, Greg (Charity) Torchia, Tina Gray and Lillian (Ron) Glaister; grandchildren, Nicholas, Jacqueline, Lexus, Jeremy, Aleksia, Marena and Isabella; great-grandchildren, Magnolia, Emery and Arianna; and his siblings, Catarina (John) Yurchick, Victoria “Vicky” Joseph and Rosalie “Rosie” Korber.

Viewing will be on Monday, October 28, 2024, from 5-8 PM in ROSS G. WALKER FUNERAL HOME LTD., 217 Freeport Road, New Kensington.  A funeral Mass will be held Tuesday, October 29, at 1PM in Mt. St. Peter Roman Catholic Church, 100 Freeport Road, New Kensington.  Anyone attending the Mass is asked to go directly to the church.  Entombment will follow in Greenwood Memorial Park Mausoleum, Lower Burrell.
