Genevieve Lillian Naviglia, 89, of Morgantown, WV, and formerly of New Kensington, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 16, 2025.
Born May 8,1935 in Spangler, Cambria County, she was the daughter of Chester Banasik and Arlene Rice Banasik. She was a long time resident of New Kensington, in recent years living with her daughter and son-in-law.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 65 years, Louis F. Naviglia; and their son Richard Naviglia.
She was a homemaker who enjoyed being involved with her church, Mt. St. Peter Roman Catholic Church of New Kensington as a volunteer for various functions, her favorite being the Fish Fry, and would always talk about it with so much excitement. She also was a member of the St. Anthony Guild of the church.
She enjoyed going out to eat and visiting the casinos. On her last trip to Las Vegas she hit the jackpot making it an extra special trip for her. We enjoyed many wonderful restaurants as well. Her daily past times were afternoon soap operas and her word search books. She loved being a food critic, most times giving a “it was good,” to her daughter.
Her furry grand babies always brought a spark in her eyes, her favorites were Pebble, Taylor and Kingsley, because they would let her hold them. She has lived life her way and will be missed.
Survivors are her daughter Yvonne Cardenas, son-in-law Brian Cardenas; grandson, Gregory Warfel and his wife Kim; son Michael Naviglia and his wife Rosann, their seven children and their spouses.
Visitation will be Friday, February 7, 2025, from 11AM until services at 1PM in ROSS G. WALKER FUNERAL HOME LTD., 217 Freeport Road, New Kensington, Burial will be private.
