Frederick (Bud) Cepull, 98, of Tarentum, died Monday, October 20, 2025, at his home. He was born August 10, 1927, in New Kensington, and was the second child of Edward H. and Grace McLaughlin Cepull. He grew up surrounded by his brother, sisters, aunts, uncles, and cousins. He met the love of his life, Virginia Young, while stationed at Ft. Gordon, Georgia and married her on the day after his discharge in 1952. As she transitioned to northern life, they made a home for their growing family in a country house built almost entirely by his own hands. He enjoyed 35 years as a toolmaker for Alcoa in New Kensington and REALLY enjoyed his 48 years of retirement! He was a charter member of the Fawn- Frazer Water Authority and continued to serve until just recently. He faithfully attended Arnold United Methodist Church for his entire life. He was always very active and regularly enjoyed dancing and roller skating. He was an accomplished ‘fixer’. No matter what the broken gadget or machinery, he would figure out how to make it right. His wonderful time on earth with Virginia ended too soon with her passing on Easter day 2001.
He is survived by his closest friend and companion Rose Anthony, his sister Karen (David) Chomyak, and his four children, Jeffrey (Lynne Hunter) Cepull, Kim Cepull, Dale (Cindi) Cepull, and Jennifer Copus; his five grandchildren, Autumn Cepull, Cristin (Nickolas) Cepull Perney, Michael Cepull, Josh (Francee) Copus, and Emilee (Sam) Hemler; his eight great-grandchildren; and his one great-great grandchild. Besides his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by siblings, Patricia Maier and Edward Cepull, Jr.
Viewing will be on Friday October 24th from 10-11 in ROSS G. WALKER FUNERAL HOME LTD., 217 Freeport Road, New Kensington. A funeral service will follow the viewing. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Fred’s charity of choice, the Alzheimer Association: https://www.alz.org.
