Ellen M. Cowan Puglisi Straub, 96, of New Kensington, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 4, 2023.

She was born August 16, 1927, in Ford City to the late Leonard Porter and Althea (Fulton) Cowan.

Mrs. Straub graduated from Citizens General Hospital School of Nursing in New Kensington and worked as a Registered Nurse at Citizens General Hospital, in New Kensington and Allegheny Valley Hospital in Natrona Heights. She retired from the Veterans Administration Hospital, Pittsburgh in 1981.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her son , Anthony Paul Puglisi in 2018; her first husband, Paul Puglisi in 1969, her second husband Harry J. Straub in 1989; and two brothers Leonard Porter Cowan, Jr., and Roger Cowan.

She is survived by her step-son, Thomas B. (Vicki) Straub; two step-granddaughters, Larissa Yates and Sarah Greco; four-step great grandchildren; nephew, Gae (Kay) Reano; two nieces, Francine (Tom) Costello and Mary Rose Valasek; brother James Cowan; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Private arrangements and burial were entrusted to ROSS G. WALKER FUNERAL HOME LTD. of New Kensington.
