Elaine Marie Brown, 75, of Cape Coral, FL, and formerly of New Kensington, died on Saturday, Feb. 18, 2023 in Cape Coral, after a long, courageous battle with dementia.
She was born Aug. 2, 1947 in New Kensington.
Beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Elaine was married to Russell Brown for 53 years.
She graduated from Arnold High School in 1965 and from Business School a year later. She was an office worker at PPG Industries in Creighton, Pa. and, for 15 years, worked as an office manager for Aid Association for Lutherans, an insurance and financial services company. She and her family lived in New Kensington, Chicago, Baltimore, Monroeville and Cape Coral.
Elaine was a long-time member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in New Kensington and, for the past 15 years, an active member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in North Fort Myers, FL. At Good Shepherd, she was on Church Council for 6 years, Council secretary for 4 years and was in charge of the church’s prayer chain. Among her many hobbies were gardening, reading, walking, shopping (which she called “bumming”) and doing church work. Her three favorite vacation spots were Germany, San Francisco and Myrtle Beach.
Her daughter Kimberly Najphor said, “Mom was such a selfless person. She always put others first.” Her husband Russell said, “She was a great Christian woman with strong faith. She is in heaven right now, hugging our daughter.”
Surviving are her husband, Russell L. Brown, her daughter, Kimberly Shaw Najphor, her granddaughter Ashley Shaw Lester, her grandson-in-law Nicholas Lester, her grandson Nicholas Shaw, and four great-grandchildren: Ava Shaw, Kinzley Shaw, Kruz Shaw and Waylon Lester. She was predeceased by her father Andrew L. Danko, her mother Marie Patsko Danko, and her daughter Marcie L. Brown.
Viewing will be Thursday, February 23, from 6-8 PM in the ROSS G. WALKER FUNERAL HOME LTD., 217 Freeport Road, New Kensington, where a service will be held Friday, February 24, at 10 AM. Entombment will follow in Greenwood Memorial Park, Lower Burrell.
