Effie Lou Montanari, 91, of New Kensington, passed from this physical world into Paradise, on Saturday, May 11, 2024, in the home she and her late husband, Edward J. Montanari, built in 1956.
Our loving and devoted mother was born in her grandmother’s home in the McKean Plan of New Kensington on September 24, 1932, to the late Howard & Mildred Heckman Sinclair. She was a resident of New Kensington for her entire 91 years.
Effie Lou graduated from Ken-Hi in 1950 and worked at G.C. Murphy and Mellon Bank before starting her family. She was a longtime member of the First United Methodist Church of New Kensington. In her younger years, she was a member of the East Kensington Community Circle, and enjoyed being on several bowling leagues and card clubs. She loved flowers, especially red roses, and feeding and watching the birds in her back yard.
She was an over 50 year member at Moraine Camplands, Slippery Rock, where she was “Queen of the Circle” to her camp family who she adored, and loved to sit on her swing and watch them grow up.
She leaves to cherish her memory her four children, Ed Montanari, Jean Watson, David (Cathy) Montanari and Ken (Becky) Montanari; six grandchildren, Jeremiah, Melissa, Monica, Emily, Vincent and Laura; three great-grandchildren, Isaac, Noah and Ana; also four nieces Debbie, Karen, Susan and Joni; three nephews, Dan, Chris and John; and sister-in-law Betty Sinclair.
Besides her parents and her husband of 63 years, she was preceded in death by her brother Howard Sinclair; son-in-law, Carter Watson; and nephew, Rick.
The family would like to thank her caregiver Darlene, and hospice nurse Stacy for their wonderful care.
Private viewing was held at the ROSS G. WALKER FUNERAL HOME LTD., in New Kensington, followed by burial in Plum Creek Cemetery, Plum Boro.
