Edward Luke Klemencic, 67, of Plum Borough, passed peacefully at his home in Plum Sunday, Sept. 3, 2023. He was born June 10, 1956, son of the late Rudolph and Mary Peternel Klemencic. Edward will be remembered as an extremely capable and good man, always willing to offer his knowledge and skills to anyone who needed them with honesty and integrity. Through his resourcefulness and masterful skills across numerous disciplines, he gifted his talents and services to many. An avid reader, he was kind, humble and, quite frankly, determined. He was a pillar for youth education of proper safety and responsible firearm use, which are rare and pertinent qualities in society today. He was a great and patient teacher who eagerly passed on his skills and served as a mentor to anyone willing to learn. Ed graduated from Carnegie Mellon University, where he studied mechanical engineering and was known around campus as a champion orienteering competitor. He held three professional engineering positions before dedicating the rest of his life to serving his community, friends, family and customers through his specialty residential contracting business, ELK SRC. He masterfully executed various construction, specialty woodworking, and renovation projects. Ed was recognized and admired by many for his design, creation and implementation abilities, his engineering knowledge, his canoe building skills and as a fun-loving grandfather. Ed's love for scouting, marksmanship and any outdoor experience was passed down to each of his children and many others. The multitude of students who benefited from his guidance are now more prepared for their lives ahead. Ed is survived by his four children, Michael (Ewelina) Klemencic, Christine (Damian) Sheets, Jacob (Jo Ann) Klemencic and Anthony (Beverly Pennant) Klemencic; nine grandchildren, Jace, Alexander, Samuel, Carmen, Cora, Rosalyn, Hunter, Melinda and Rudie; and his children's mother, Cindy Klemencic. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his oldest brother, Thomas. He is survived by four siblings, Barbara, Joanne, Frances and Paul, as well as his many nieces and nephews and their kin. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Boy Scouts of America, 4-H, the Alzheimer's Association, Izaak Walton League, or the American Diabetes Association, in his memory. A celebration of Edward's life will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 10, 2023, at ROSS G. WALKER FUNERAL HOME LTD., 217 Freeport Road, New Kensington, with community eulogies beginning at noon.
